2 Day Workshop

When: September 14 & 15 2024, 9 AM to 4 PM

The focus of this two-day workshop is for artists of all skill levels to explore the versatility of the pastel medium using different tools and materials, such as brayers, sticks, razors, clear gesso, acrylics, and inks, as under and over painting layers. I will also be teaching the importance of using composition structures, value, and color harmony in your paintings. Though I will be using pastels, oil and acrylic painters are welcome. Whatever medium you prefer to use, the fundamentals work for all.

All information will be presented as a PDF which will be yours to keep. I will email copies to all students after the class.

About Carol Strock Wasson

Carol Strock Wasson, a signature member of American Women Artists, a Master Pastelist member of Chicago Pastel Painters. In 2019 she achieved Master Circle status with IAPS (International Association of Pastel Societies) and in 2022 became a Master at Pastel Society of America. She is focused on painting with spontaneity and freshness with primarily pastel medium and occasionally oil. Her dedication is evident in awards and entry into prestigious shows across the country. She has been a featured artist to many Plein Air events for several years. Carol’s work encompasses the genre of the rural area she lives in, focusing on color, shape, and design in the plein air tradition as well as in the studio. Though she is known mainly for her work in the pastel medium, she also works in oil, monotype prints and watercolor. Carol teaches and works out of Strockwasson Studio at 317 N Columbia, Union City, Indiana. Her commitment is to teach the importance of the fundamentals in art whatever medium used.
