What’s going on at the Galleries at Heartland Art Club?

by Rita Rogers Bishop

As of Saturday, November 18’s opening reception, there are three concurrent exhibits being shown. That is hundreds of new representational art offerings!

  • Ticket to Pick It, the annual fundraiser exhibit featuring 74 amazing submissions in many creative mediums, - on display through December 14, 2023.  Tickets are available through December 3, 2023, at https://heartlandartclub.org/2023-ticket-to-pick-it

  • The Group of 8 show, which features the work of Daniel Fishback, Judy Stroup, Anthony Leon, Gino Santa Maria, Julie Barbeau, Merritt, Sandy Haynes, and Veronica Brown - on display through January 6, 2024.

  • VxVll, an exhibition of 212 works of art – each measuring 5”x7” – perfect for collecting and holiday gift giving - on display through January 27, 2024

The opening reception was well attended, and the walls were covered with the hundreds of submissions. I visited with several participating artists who were on hand. Sandy Haynes, a local Kirkwood artist, has oil paintings offered in the Ticket to Pick It fundraiser as well as the Group of 8 exhibit. Julie Barbeau is showing several unique high-contrast linocut prints, and Kitty Harrison is offering a beautiful nocturnal watercolor painting.

One of the goals of the Heartland Art Club is to unite and support artists in the heartland region of the country while supporting traditional and contemporary representational art in the community. These multiple exhibits are proof that HAC is indeed providing the space and resources to connect artists, collectors, and the community. HAC also provides a nurturing environment to bring artists together through educational workshops and inspirational activities.

Kirkwood is an amazing and friendly community, and Heartland Art Club gallery is located right in the center of this charming town, across from the Amtrak train station, which connects the neighboring cities along the Katy Trail and the Missouri River across to Kansas City Missouri.

And don’t forget to check in frequently with Heartland Art Club, or sign up for emails, as new exhibits are frequently installed.
