This was painted during U City in Bloom’s Second Annual Plein Air Event. They do such a wonderful job enhancing and beautifying the community through public gardens, community partnerships, citizen involvement, and environmental education. In fact, they do such a great job that the most difficult part of the day was trying to decide which garden to paint. They were all beautiful, so I had to add some additional criteria to my decision-making - shade and convenient parking. This spot by City Hall fit the bill perfectly and got my vote. Thank you U City in Bloom for another great event! Bright day with temperatures in the upper 80s to low 90s.

All donations made until June 28th, 2019, will automatically enter the donor into the drawing.

The winner will be selected at random on June 30, 2019.
Need not be present to win.
The winner will be notified by email.

About Heartland Art Club's Visiting Artist Program

The Heartland Art Club Visiting Artist Program sends juried representational artists out into accredited schools for presentations in classrooms.

The artists bring examples of their work and give talks on the process of how their artwork is made.  The presentations are made in art rooms with classes from kindergarten through 12th grade.  Topics may include how the artist’s media is used, what it is like to work regularly creating art, the demands of the art field, how to market artwork to the public, how to approach galleries, and what it means to be a professional.

The goal of this program is to expose students to professional representational artists and artwork.   The Visiting Artist Program may be a student’s first exposure to viewing actual representational artwork outside of a museum.  The Visiting Artist Program allows students to view actual work up close. Students are able to ask questions of the artist.  Students can develop a deeper understanding of the life of an artist.

Some of these students will go on to become professional artists themselves. Exposure to professional working artists is a meaningful vehicle for students to contemplate creative career choices.  The Visiting Artist Program is a way to allow students a glimpse into the life of a working artist.

Heartland Art Club’s juried artists are some of America's finest living representational artists. Many of them have generously donated their time and effort to meet with students through this program.  We need your support for expenses and to offer our artists a small stipend. Every bit helps, and every donation is an automatic entry into the drawing for the Shawn Cornell painting.
