Letter from the President - August 2023

Heartland Art Club is having an exciting 2023, hosting four exhibitions and many workshops and classes in a range of media!

Our Members’ Showcase is currently on display at the gallery.  It is a beautiful show with 58 members participating.  August 18th is our kickoff for the RepreSENSATIONAL Exhibition, with a reception from 6-8 pm and awards at 7 pm.  This is a national juried show with 80 artworks.  We would love you to attend.

There is currently a call for art on our website for the VxVll (5x7) exhibition this fall, from November 15-January 27, 2024.  Artists may enter up to five 5”x7” pieces of work.  The VxVll show will run concurrently with our Ticket to Pick It exhibition and fundraiser.  Please consider donating to the Ticket to Pick It event.  We are so grateful to all the artists who donate artwork each year—without your generosity, this fundraiser would not be possible. We are also extremely grateful to our ticket purchasers, whose contributions to the club will allow us to continue exceptional programming next year.

Our lineup of workshops, classes, and presentation events for artists in 2023 has been and will continue to be excellent, covering a variety of artistic media and subject areas.  Adam Long, Jane Mudd, and Allen Kriegshauser are all returning to offer workshops in sculpture, portraiture, and landscape painting respectively.

Heartland Art Club is also sponsoring an artistic retreat this fall!  It will take place on a beautiful property in the Ozarks in southern Missouri, owned by artist Michael McClure.  The retreat will open Friday October 27th and continue through Sunday afternoon August 29th.  The purpose of the retreat is to bring Plein Air painters together for educational and painting opportunities in the spectacular setting of the Ozarks.  Registration is still open for the retreat with a couple of remaining places.  We are looking forward to sharing knowledge and learning with you!

If you have ideas for events, shows, learning opportunities, or other ways we can support our artists and community, please reach out to us at art@heartlandartclub.org. As always, we strive to focus our offerings and events on your artistic needs. We are delighted to have you on board!

All the Best,

Mary Drastal
