Award Winning Regional Artist Daniel Fishback will teach class participants how to select a paint-able subject and create beautiful oil paintings from your own photographs. Daniel will show you how to simplify your subject matter by massing shapes together and by leaving out unnecessary details. He will demonstrate how using correct values and color temperatures will create depth in your paintings.
The instructor will do demonstrations, as well as work one-on-one with each student. Class size is limited to allow all students significant one-on-one time with the instructor.
This class is open to all skill levels but will be most beneficial to beginners and intermediate painters.
Learn how to mix clean colors, create dramatic light effects, use different brush strokes to create a variety of textures, apply simple perspective techniques to make your painting believable, and much more.

Plein Air painting is my favorite way to paint. I love being outdoors and seeing the beauty of nature first hand. Only when painting outside can one experience the dramatic light and shadow patterns, the rich true colors, and the wonder that only nature can provide.
During the month of September 2016, I served as the Steelville Missouri Art Council's "Artist in Residence". During that month I painted a series of Waterscape Paintings, did 2 demonstrations for the high school art classes, and taught a Plein Air Workshop. The art council held an exhibition and sale for me at the end of the residency. It was a great learning opportunity for me and I felt I grew as an artist during this time.
While primarily self-taught, in 2014 I began taking workshops from some nationally acclaimed artists like Phil Starke, Roger Dale Brown, Scott Christenson, Shawn Cornell, John Lasater, and CW Mundy.
My paintings are in corporate and private collections in the United States. I have earned numerous awards and have had several solo shows. Commission requests are considered.
