Annual dues for Signature and Master Membership begin the year following the conferment of the juried status - for example Applicants for Signature Membership in 2019 will first pay the general dues ($60) and then pay the jurying fee ($100) for a total of $160 in order to proceed through the jurying process; those awarded Signature Status in 2019 will not owe any additional dues until 2020, when they will begin paying the annual dues for Signature Membership ($120).

 Frequently Asked Questions

How do I become a member of Heartland Art Club, and what are the benefits of membership?

Heartland Art Club encourages all artists and patrons who are committed to the creation and/or promotion of original, representational fine art and who want to support the Club’s objectives to join us as general (non-juried) members. General Membership is conferred upon payment of annual dues. Information about the benefits associated with each membership level can be found above.

What are the different membership levels for artists, and what kind of member will I be when I join?

All new HAC members enter at the General Membership (non-juried) level. Any non-juried Member in good standing may apply for Signature Artist Membership during one of the specified application periods. Applicants must sign up as General Members and pay their Membership dues prior to submitting the application and jurying fee for Signature Artist Membership.

Master Artist Membership is the highest juried level of HAC’s tiered membership structure. Applications for the Master Artist designation will open in 2020.

What is Signature Artist Membership, and how are artists selected?

Signature Artist Membership is a juried status conferred to artists with bodies of work that exhibit a high level of skill in their chosen medium/media and reflect the Club’s mission to promote quality representational art. To be considered for Signature Membership, artists must submit the online application and pay the jurying fee ($100). Applications will undergo careful review by a panel of 5 independent jurors, comprised of accomplished representational artists, at least one of whom works in three-dimensional media.

Jurors have undergone a thorough vetting process involving nomination by the Heartland Art Club Artist Advisory Committee and confirmation by the Heartland Art Club Board of Directors. The composition of the jury panel rotates annually.

How do I apply for Signature Artist Membership?

We accept applications for any Member in good standing for Signature Membership through the online application form during the application period. Applicants are asked to provide 10 samples of their finest representational artwork for evaluation by the jury panel. Notification of jury results is sent out after the application period closes and jurors have completed their evaluations of all applicants.

How do I apply for Master Artist Membership?

Applications for the Master Artist designation will open in 2020. If you would like to receive the most up-to-date information about Master Artist Membership, please make sure you are signed up for the HAC newsletter below.

Do I need to be a member to submit to Heartland Art Club shows and exhibitions?

Yes, unless otherwise specified in the exhibit prospectus. Artists must be members in good standing at the time of the exhibit application deadline. If artists are not yet members, but would like to submit to a show, we request that artists complete the membership process by paying their annual dues prior to applying for the juried show.

Have I paid my dues for this year?

Membership dues must be paid each year to maintain your membership status. To verify membership status, please send an e-mail to art@heartlandartclub.org with the subject line “Current Membership Standing.” In the body of the e-mail, please include the full name and e-mail address that you provided when you joined HAC.
